GREG RING, from the Cleveland area (formerly of Belpre), brings a wide variety of musical skills to Insured Sound. He plays keyboard, sax, flute, sings and does most of the musical arrangements for the group. Greg has been with Insured Sound since 1998, previously playing with "The Cobras" and "Grand Stand" in the Mid-Ohio Valley area as well as many big band and jazz groups across Ohio and West Virginia. Greg is a former band director and holds a Bachelor's of Music degree from Bowling Green State University. He currently serves as a school administrator for the Amherst Schools in Lorain County.
HAROLD STOCKWELL is a lifelong resident of the Mid-Ohio Valley. He was a music major at West Virginia University with group founder Dave Piatt, and a long time member of the popular area band "The Cobras" with Greg. Harold also has performed numerous times with the 50's-60's band "Danny and the Juniors". Having extensive recording and sound reinforcement experience, he still prefers live music because of the musical interaction, and enjoys seeing people relax and have a good time with the music of Insured Sound. Harold is currently employed with Wood Co. Schools and enjoys teaching with his wife Linda.
SUSAN HICKMAN is from Parkersburg, WV., and is the lead vocalist. It is hard to find a female vocalist anywhere with the range that Susan has. She is outstanding in rendering the styles of such greats as Whitney Houston, Etta James, and Linda Ronstadt to name a few. Susan is also an outstanding blues singer (her favorite). Her versatility goes hand in hand with the band's vocals and unique sound. Susan is currently working as a Registered Nurse.
RICK BARNHART is from Mineral Wells, WV., and is the bass player in the group. He provides the solid bottom to the band- bass playin' that will make you want to boogie. He played 5 years with the Contemporary Gospel group "Returned", and previously with "Nostalgia". Rick is currently employed by Wood County Schools and works at Jackson Jr. High School. His wife Diane is also a big fan of the group and enjoys coming to watch them play.
MATT PIATT: Music has always been a very important aspect in the life of this Williamstown, WV native. Matt began learning to play the drums at a young age from his late father Dave Piatt. Matt always traveled around with his dad and the band when he was younger and grew up in the industry. Matt played for two years with the Contemporary Christian rock group “RED”, and joined Insured Sound in November of 2006 shortly after his dad Dave passed away. Matt is currently working for Ricoh Business Solutions as a Sr. Account Sales Representative, and is married to his wife Susan.
